The actresses, who play the witches in the prequel to the 1939 classic film,  followed the yellow brick road and attended the LA launch for "Oz The Great and Powerful" at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, February 13, 2013.

Rachel Weisz, who plays Evanora, the Wicked Witch of the East, looked stunning in an orange Victoria Beckham gown. Mila Kunis, was beautiful in a cream lace Dolce & Gabbana prom dress and Christian Louboutin heels while Michelle Williams opted for a white Prada dress with
flower embroidery.

In addition to the female leads, James Franco, the star of the movie in the title role, also walked the carpet after filming a promo on a full size hot air balloon, hovering over Hollywood Boulevard. It was quite the spectacle and a bit surreal as the fans, lining the street, cheered with each blast of the hot air burner.

Also on hand for the event was the Director Sam Raimi and celebrity guests including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sarah Chalke and Tobey Maguire. (photos © 2013 Picturelux - All Rights Reserved.

About the film:

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.

The film is set for release on March 8, 2013.
