Freddy Krueger is the fictional screen villain from the 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' series of horror films. He first appears in Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) as a disfigured dream stalker who uses a glove armed with razors to kill his victims in their dreams, which ultimately results in their death in the real world. However, whenever he is put into the real world, he has normal human strength and vulnerability. He was created by Wes Craven, and has been consistently portrayed by Robert Englund since his first appearance.

Flash forward to 2010, Freddy Krueger is born-again in 'A Nightmare on Elm Street', the re-imagined version of the classic eighties horror film... this time around starring Jackie Earle Haley. Just  three days shy of the U.S. release of "A Nightmare on Elm Street", Warner Brothers Pictures held the Los Angeles premiere of the film on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA

Despite the atmospheric black carpet used to welcome the guests, spirits were high and the mood was celebratory as the cast members, guests and well-wishers made their way down the carpet. The Stars of the film, Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara, Thomas Dekker, Kyle Gallner, Clancy Brown, Connie Britton were all in attendance and walked the carpet. Others connected with the film and making an appearance included Director of the film Samuel Bayer, producer Michael Bay as well as Toby Emmerich from New Line Cinema.

Plenty of celebrity guests were on hand as well to lend support including Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett, Jordana Brewster, Kid Kudi, Shannon Elizabeth, Carla Gugino, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Nicky Whelan, Efren Ramirez, Bridget Marquardt and many others.

The Oscar nominated actor knows that many fans of the horror series will always see Robert Englund as Kruger. Speaking at the premiere and  when asked about the role of Freddy Krueger, Jackie Earle Haley comments  " I thought that the script was really tight. It's really grown and gotten a lot tighter since then but I just thought that it was a very sound script, a good story and of course the notion of getting to reintroduce 'Nightmare on Elm Street' to a new generation. Also, getting to make it today with today's kind of film making capabilities combined with the fact of getting to play Freddy Krueger, one of the most iconic characters in the world, it's like, 'Yeah, man. Lets go do it.'

About the film: Nancy, Kris, Quentin, Jesse and Dean all live on Elm Street. At night, they’re all having the same dream—of the same man, wearing a tattered red and green striped sweater, a beaten fedora half-concealing a disfigured face and a gardener’s glove with knives for fingers. And they’re all hearing the same frightening voice…

One by one, he terrorizes them within the curved walls of their dreams, where the rules are his, and the only way out is to wake up.

But when one of their number dies a violent death, they soon realize that what happens in their dreams happens for real, and the only way to stay alive is to stay awake. Turning to each other, the four surviving friends try to uncover how they became part of this dark fairytale, hunted by this dark man. Functioning on little to no sleep, they struggle to understand why them, why now, and what their parents aren’t telling them.

Buried in their past is a debt that has just come due, and to save themselves, they will have to plunge themselves into the mind of the most twisted nightmare of all… Freddy Krueger.
